That the World May Know (original)

"That the World May Know"

John 13: 27-30

John 14: 30-31

Judas had gone. “And it was night.”

Betrayal was already in motion.

Darkness was at work. Jesus knew what awaited him.

Yet throughout those final hours with his disciples,

His word kept returning to one person:

His father.

He had come from The Father.

He spoke of the words of The Father.

He did the world of The Father.

And he was returning to The Father.

The disciples struggles to understand what was happening around them.

Jesus know where he was going.

To his father.

And with the darkness drawing nearer, Jesus told them something he wanted to world to know.

“But I do as The Father has commanded me, so that the world may know that I love The Father.” -John 14:31

The darkness was coming.

The Son knew what obedience would require.

And still,

His heart remained fixed upon his father.
